The RBS Morgans “International Piano Series” was initiated in 2005 by Guy Barrett and Melissa Gayler of MDB Promotions. This was a new and exciting experience for Adelaide that had not seen a world class piano series in decades.

Pianists visiting Australia with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Musica Viva in 2005 were engaged to begin the series, with Piers Lane the debut artist invoking an
enthusiastic response.

Further high quality pianists followed, including Nikolai Demidenko, prompting Graham Strahle to write “Quite possibly the greatest recital ever heard in Adelaide” in The Adelaide Review. Consequently ABC Classic FM moved to ensure all further recitals were recorded for nationwide broadcast.

With RBS Morgans' continued support we are able to engage the most highly regarded classical pianists in the world including Marc-Andre Hamelin and
Dmitri Alexeev.

2008 introduced a new theme with an all French programme by Pascal Roge, the return of Piers Lane and now ABN AMRO Morgans is pleased to announce the first Australian recital by Cyprien Katsaris.

The 2009 series has secured the first appearances of rising star Ewa Kupiec and the legendary Stephen Kovacevich and a return visit by Marc Andre Hamelin.
